The Therapy Pod is simple cabin cocooned by a mix of lush green rainforest, rocky creek beds and tall eucalyptus woodlands.
Founded by Jane Ashton, The Therapy Pod offers an individual counselling service with a long-term, in-depth approach that explores the complexities of each individual's internal landscape. Counselling sessions are founded on trauma-informed and neuroaffirming practices, drawing upon an evidence-based person-centered approach. Sessions may incorporate various modalities, including Animal-Assisted Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, Sandplay and Symbol Work, Internal Family Systems, Nature-Based Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Jane is a formally qualified (ACA registered) counsellor with specialised, nationally recognised qualifications in Animal Assisted Therapy, with lived experience as a late-diagnosed Autistic / ADHD. Deeply passionate about her work, Jane is committed to ethical practice and holds space with absolute care and respect for her clients.
In addition to Jane, two additional independent mental health practitioners work from the space, Neisha (Neisha Cass Counselling) and Tracey (MAJ Counselling and Therapies) along with their respective clients. For more information regarding these practitioners visit the Pod Community page. The collaboration fosters an environment where a diverse range of experiences and specialties intersect, drawing on decades of collective knowledge and resources. This increased our capacity to support your care needs.

At The Therapy Pod, nurturing emotional safety and regulation skills, while fostering a deep sense of belonging, is at the heart of everything we do. We support clients in build capacity to show up wholeheartedly as themselves and experience (often for the first time) a felt sense of being seen, understood, accepted, validated and valued—exactly as they are, free from judgment or expectation. This process of 'healing' can be raw, messy, and often conflicting — where breakthroughs and setbacks, challenges and rewards, come together in the real work of growth.

A neurodivergent brain is one that functions in ways that differ from the societal norm, often associated with conditions like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurological differences.
Neurodivergence describes natural variations in how individuals think, learn, process information, and experience the world. These differences are not inherently deficits but represent diverse cognitive patterns and ways of being
When a neurodivergent individual is not understood or supported by those that understand, without pathologising, these differences, the cost is profound, impacting nearly every aspect of life, risking a life marked by isolation, struggle and survival.

A neurodivergent counsellor offers an understanding and validation without pathologising, that goes beyond clinical training. What is offered is anchored in lived experience. There is a deep innate understanding of nuances, fluctuating capacity and conflicting internal parts. Neurodivergent counsellors understand the systemic barriers and societal pressures their clients face daily.
